That’s quite weird. Maybe he just had the parts laying around?
One of the projects that I have planned (but I lack funding/time) is slightly similar but it does not include a Civic. It is also impossible to make it road legal here so I should forget it. But maybe someone else could do it.
The idea was this:
-locate a crashed late model Lancer Evo
-locate a Peugeot 403 that has rusty floor beyond restoration
-chop both in pieces and attach the 403 body over the Lancer chassis
-use the 403 interior and hide anything resembling a modern car
-find weird steel wheels that will cover Lancer’s big brakes
-add “idle crappifier switch” that will make it sound like a 403
-find a gravel hill climb organized by the kustom kulture guys
-go fast and have fun
- ?
-profit
It might to look like this but with less shiny things.

That is an impressive amount of work. The entire floor of the car would have had to be replaced. I’m also pretty sure a Lancer has a longer wheelbase than a civic, meaning the AWD system would have to be modified to accommodate the shorter car. I definitely don’t trust that it was done right.
